At the tail end of a turbulent and trying year for Queensland rallying, Wayne Menzies and Chris Baxter have emerged as Champions for the 2011 season.

The QRC year kicked off with massive floods right across the heartland areas where the bulk of Queensland rallying is held, and to add insult to injury, Townsville was once again on the calendar, however Cyclone Yasi took care of that and flattened everything in its path, along with any hope of running a state championship round in the North of the state.

Natural disasters aside, the 2011 QRC forged ahead and once again managed to create an epic battle right to the bitter end.

Menzies and Baxter, from Rockhampton in Central Queensland, probably tally more kilometres than most when it comes to rallying in the Sunshine State.  They attend and compete in every event available to them, most well over 600km away, and their consistency and increased commitment has paid dividends this year.

The dedicated team were always competitive in their Celica 2WD, but stepped up to 4WD turbo status a few years ago and have never looked back.  They earmarked 2011 as the year to throw caution to the wind and have a real crack at the state championship.  The win did not come easy with some very experienced teams and expensive machinery with the same objective lining up beside them at every round.

Not only do Wayne and Chris compete strong and consistently in the forest, the entire team can take credit for the hard earned win as well as their contribution to the image and professionalism of rallying in the Sunshine State.

Although not sparkling with expensive bells and whistles, their service team, gear and area are always a shining example of safety and image and set the bench mark in the service paddock.
Their entire team carry the true spirit of rallying of fun, mateship, and together they have earned the 2011 Champion’s crown and will wear it proudly until the 2012 season comes around.
