Mitsubishi driver Molly Taylor’s excellent run in the Australian Rally Championship continued at the weekend, when she finished both Heats of Toyota Kluger Rally South Australia in the top 20.

Taylor, and co-driver Dale Moscatt, are contesting the F16 Cup in this year’s Championship in their dimunitive Mirage.  Just by finishing both Heats, the pair gained maximum points in the category, and now only need another 40 points from the remaining two events, to clinch the title.

Describing the fast, flowing roads of South Australia as “great, but a real challenge”, Molly admitted she had learnt a lot from the rally.  A slight overshoot on the second day which required some spectator assistance to get back on the road, resulted in a flat tyre.  However, Taylor and Moscatt were able to change the tyre, and continue on their way.

Molly was happy to have some competition from the local crews contesting the South Australian Rally Championship component of the event. “It was great to have the SA locals in their 2wds in the state section. We were eagerly keeping an eye on their times and showed that we had the pace,” she commented.

The next event for the team is the fifth round of the NEC Australian Rally Championship, the Great Lakes Rally on September 15 & 16.
