Moscatt’s signing follows the departure of John Allen from the team after Targa Wrest Point. According to both Kevin Weeks and Supaloc Racing Technical Director Oscar Fiorinotto, the opportunity to secure such a well-credentialed co-driver is a huge boost for the team ahead of Australia’s most prestigious tarmac rally.
“I am excited about this partnership and I am sure we will be successful,” Weeks said.
“Kevin Weeks will go into Targa Tasmania with great confidence knowing that he has one of the most experienced navigators in Australian rallying,” Fiorinotto said. “The experience that Dale brings to the team will be a huge benefit for an event as tough as Targa Tasmania.”
Moscatt’s navigating career started in club-level rallies in 1993. From there, he worked his way up to the Australian Rally Championship, culminating in his 2005 title as co-driver to Cody Crocker.
Moscatt then competed in China and Abu Dhabi before co-driving with Russian Evgeny Novikov in the Production World Rally Championship in 2008, stepping up to the World Rally Championship with the Citroen Junior Team in 2009 and scoring a best result of fifth place outright in Rally Italy.
Moscatt is enthusiastic about his new role at Supaloc Racing.
“I’m really excited about it,” he said. “I’ve done Targa Tasmania before, but this will be the first time I’ve been in a car capable of outright victory.
“Not only is the Supaloc Lamborghini prepared well, but Kevin has come a long way with his driving and he is one of the absolute favourites for the event.
“Targa Tasmania is not just won on outright speed, but by having a clever strategy and driving to the varying conditions. Kevin and I will be a new pairing, but we are putting a lot of effort into all those important areas, so we will be going there aiming for nothing less than an outright victory.
“Overall, I’m excited to be driving for one of the front-running teams in Targa Tasmania and hopefully I can help Kevin claim his first victory in the event,” Moscatt concluded.
