Canberra rally Driver, Adrian Coppin, tasted success in the Trussme National Capital Rally over the weekend.

Driving his Total Traction Services Hyundai Excel, Adrian won the final round of the ACT Novice Championship to secure third outright in the ACT Novice Championship.

“I needed to win the round to finish third in the title, so I’m pumped,” he said.

The rally was run under difficult conditions as the temperature soared in the Kowen Forest east of Canberra.  The heat made conditions doubly challenging for crews as fatigue became as much of a challenge as the testing Kowen Forest roads and blinding dust.

“I am really proud of Adrian’s achievements in only his first year behind the wheel,” co-driver and father, Phil Coppin, said.

“He has the right attitude and his speed is increasing consistently.  Hopefully, 2010 will see us challenging the regulars in the NSW Excel Cup.”

In addition to his third place in the overall Novice series, Coppin also won the P2 class for 2WD cars and finished eighth outright in the NSW Championship round.
