Tauranga-based Campbell took a tactical approach in his Ford Fiesta AP4, progressing through the eliminations to run head-to-head against Shane van Gisbergen in the final.
The reigning Bathurst 1000 champ took the win by 1.57secs, but Campbell had saved his best for the all-important final round.
Campbell’s 1m 21.626s effort in the final ranked him the third quickest driver on the day behind Hayden Paddon and van Gisbergen.
