Motor sport all-rounder Steve Hoinville has secured the support of SEW Eurodrive for this weekend’s Rally Tasmania.

Steve and brother Jeff Honiville have only competed in limited events over the last few years, but are now looking towards a full program this season including Targa Tasmania, Classic Adelaide and the new SunCoast Classic.

The Hoinville brothers will start the year in their crowd-pleasing Escort RS1600 and are looking for a strong result.

“Last year we were leading the event only to be let down by a $2 part, so we expect to be amongst the front-runners again. Next weekend will see us wheel out the RS1600 in SEW colours for the first time, so it’s an exciting event for us,” Hoinville said.

The Escort will be used again in November for the Classic Adelaide, but the Hoinvilles are considering switching to a modern car during the season.

“We currently have a couple of options to run in the modern category for Targa and SunCoast. Let’s wait and see what we turn up in for these two events,” said Steve Hoinville.

After completing a successful 2006 season as Technical Director of the Pirtek Rally Team Ford, Steve Hoinville has decided to contest a full season driving in tarmac rallies.

“We will continue to develop the cars and devote more time to testing in the lead up to each event. It is great to get behind the wheel again, especially with the support of SEW Eurodrive,” he added.

SEW Eurodrive is one of the world’s largest supplier of Gearmotors and Frequency Inverters to industry.
