The waiting continues! Entries for Monte Carlo Rally close on December 22 (and often this is delayed because of the pre-Christmas rush). Team drivers have also promised to attend the Autosport International Show in Birmingham on January 11 and the published list entries (subject to FIA approval – which is usually delayed) is due on January 12. So it seems that Sebastien Ogier has time on his side before he decides what to do – if M-Sport can wait that long. The main pre-Rally Australia topic was the future in the sport for Sebastien Ogier, his options generally accepted as being whether to stay with Ford or retire. At the pre-Rally Australia press conference he said: “I have made the decision, 99%.”, unhelpfully adding, “you will know in a month if I am on the entry list for Monte Carlo Rally.…” Other comments came from Craig Breen who said: “I don’t know how many events I will contest but I will sleep well over Christmas. I have a good programme ahead of me”. Hayden Paddon said: “All I know is that we are probably not going to be doing the full season. Ongoing discussions, let’s see what happens.” With Citroen apparently out of the Ogier equation and the comments from Sebastien Loeb saying that there was no way he would contest more than three or so rallies, Kris Meeke looks like being the unchallenged king of Citroen for another year.
