Toyota have confirmed that Sebastien Ogier will drive as part of a three-car team for the 2020 WRC season.
Ogier has joined Welshman Elfyn Evans, as well as promising young Finn Kalle Rovanpera in Toyota's team, as they push towards their second manufacturer's title since returning to the WRC in 2017.
"I'm definitely very excited to be joining this team," he said. "It's another new challenge for me and I'm looking forward to it.
"We already discussed it at the end of 2016 and although we didn't manage to make it happen at that time, I'm now overwhelmed to start working with such an iconic brand as Toyota as well as my childhood idol Tommi Makinen.
"The plan is to aim for some success together and to try to win back the world championship."
The signing of Ogier helps to fill the void of Ott Tanak's departure to rival Hyundai, who are Toyota's most threatening rival in the manufacturer's title.
We wish @ElfynEvans the best of luck with his new challenge. He's long been a part of our family, and it was a pleasure watching him develop into a world-class driver over the past ten years. Thank you Elfyn.
Latvala plans to drive Sweden and Finland with a Toyota, and if budget allows, Portugal, Sardegna and Wales. Now he has to start calling to sponsors for budget. https://t.co/mqzzeyT4bb
