A second top Australian driver has entered the Pikes Peak Open division for the 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb next summer.

28-year-old 2011 Australian Junior Rally Champion Will Orders will join 2010 PPIHC Time Attack winner Jeff Denmeade in the division on July 8. Orders is entering behind the wheel of a 2WD 1993 Nissan S13 Silvia.

The Summit Rally team, led by Orders, is preparing to tackle the tough USA rally circuit in 2012, taking on four major events across the USA.

Summit's U.S. program includes three rounds of the Rally America National Championship - the Oregon Trial Rally, the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally, and the New England Forest Rally - in addition to the Pikes International Hill Climb.

The planning for the USA rally circuit has been comprehensive and the team is serious about winning and generating exposure.

“Of the four events, we are especially interested in meeting some of the world’s best drivers at the Pike Peaks International Hill Climb in 2012,” said Hilary Evans, Managing Director of Summit Innovations.

As a two-car team, the Summit crews will campaign 1993 Nissan S13 Silvias in Rally America's Two-Wheel-Drive class (Group 5 category), which will be piloted by Will Orders/Rian Calder and Ross Allan/Scott Allan.

“When building this team, we wanted to create the perfect mixture of race bred driving passion and result proven corporate strategy. We believe that with the raw talent of our drivers, Will Orders and Ross Allan, the mechanical genius of Hayden Taylor and backed by our business experience, we will make our presence felt on and off the track in the U.S.” said Evans.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will take place next summer on July 8, and for the first time in its storied history, the race will be on a completely-paved asphalt surface.

Official driver and racer registration is open at www.ppihc.com, and a total of 41 motorcycle racers and 11 auto drivers have registered. The deadline for registration is June 15, and only the first 100 motorcycles and 50 autos are guaranteed entry at this point.
