With 21 International teams in the NZ Silver Fern Marathon Rally, some with a lot of marathon event experience, the chances of them placing well is fairy high.

At the end of yesterday's (October 9th) Leg Two, they were well spread through the field and while it is a couple of Kiwis that currently lead the field, Brian Stokes first in his Ford Escort Cosworth, and Garry Adcock second in a Triumph TR7V8, the internationals have shown their pace.

1984 World Champion, Stig Blomqvist from Sweden, is currently in third, while five-times British Champion, Scotland’s Jimmy McRae, is positioned sixth. Englishmen Iain Freestone (Escort RS2000) and Francis Tuthill (Porsche 911) currently fill 10th and 11th placings.

The first of the Australians is David Hills' Ford Escort RS1600 in 15th place, closely followed by the thundering Holden Monaro V8 of Keith and Mary Anne Callinan in 17th.

All 21 of the internationals are back running after some had incidents earlier in the event with Australians Graham Alexander’s Datsun 260Z and Greg Poole’s Escort both experiencing roll overs on day one. Jim Wallace and Jeffrey David also had off road excursions on Leg One but have managed to continue.
