Pedders Rally Team Mark Pedder and co-driver Lee Tierney have finished equal second outright in arguably the most enthralling Australian Rally Championship in recent history.

Leading the event by just over one-second to both Dowel/Lee and Smart/Allen going into the final 35-kilometre stage Pedder and Tierney couldn't hold off eventual winners Smart/Allen and incredibly recorded the same time to the tenth of a second with Dowel/Lee over the gruelling 230 kilometre event.

After two rounds of the 2011 Bosch Australian Rally Championship, Pedder and Tierney are lying in third outright and within striking distance of series leaders Ryan Smart and John Allen, as the championship heads to the Scouts Rally SA in late July.

Following this history making day Pedder was happy with his performance.

"Obviously we had a real chance for our first ARC win but we couldn't match Ryan's pace today and he thoroughly deserves the win," Pedder said.

"We had an absolute ball today - this is exactly what I love about this sport - tough, rugged stages and extremely close competition where every second counts. Our result today means our fourth podium result in a row and I know our first win is not far away.

"We got another big bunch of championship points and we look forward to a much needed 10-week rest before Scouts Rally SA in late July. Certainly considering what happened to my brother Scott there last year would make success at that event extra special. We are building our speed every day I spend in the car and I came to grips this weekend with the very different power of these new unrestricted cars.

"A huge thank you to the Pedders team and RaceTorque for a car that again ran faultlessly over the weekend."

The 2011 Bosch Australian Rally Championship continues with round 3 of the 5 round series, the Scouts Rally SA to be held around the Adelaide and Barossa Valley areas on the last weekend in July.
