Bates is one of only two Australians to drive a current specification WRC Rally1 car, and explains the test in detail – the kilometres he drove and how he found the hybrid power.

He tested the Ford Puma Rally1 with fellow Aussie Luke Anear in December and aptly describes the car as ‘a rocketship’.

The 2022 Australian Rally Champion also talks about his entry into WRC Rally Portugal later in the year and the steps that needed to be taken to secure such a drive overseas.
