The Price Rallysport duo of Dean Price and Mathew James are still on a high after taking F16 honours in their Proton Satria at the recent Capital Rally of Canberra.
“It was an awesome result by the team. We came here to finish and walked away with an F16 and class P2 win,” Price said.
It all started on the Friday night with a 10km sprint in Bluetts Plantation, where the team were running 18th outright at night’s end.
Saturday was a challenging day, as the team had no dramas finishing 14th outright in the Heat and 2nd in F16 to fellow competitor Molly Taylor.
“We’ve had a remarkable drive today and the results show it. The only way we’re going to catch Molly is if she has a problem,” smiled Price.
Sunday arrived and the team faced another cold morning. All was good until 1km before the “Mineshaft”. Price rolled the front left tyre off the rim, choosing to drive to the end of the stage. This didn’t phase Price and co-driver Matthew James as they kept their cool.
“We only lost about 30 seconds with the flat tyre. We’re not out of it yet,” explained James.
Going into Sunday afternoon’s stages, Price pushed the Proton Satria to its limits, setting some quick times which payed off. It was not until the end of the final stage that they claimed the F16 and P2 win, due to Molly Taylor breaking a driveshaft, which cost her minutes.
“I’m lost for words. I feel sorry for Molly and Dale, they had it in the bag,” Price said.
At the end of Heat 2, the Price Rallysport Team had placed 15th outright, 1st in F16 and 1st in class P2. Overall, they finished 12th outright for the Capital Rally of Canberra.
