In the meantime, I’d been to Germany and Rally Finland, and saw my best mate win the Junior category, but I was back in Australia and ready to crack in.
First on the list was rectifying the lack of power issue. After much research, we concluded that the ECU was not picking up the wheel speed sensors.
That caused it to think the car was stationary at all times, therefore the engine was not advancing in timing as it moved up the revs.
This was all theoretical at the time, however, with it being the most likely cause, we decided that a completely different engine loom was needed.
Hopefully, this meant the wheel speed sensors would pick up wheel movement and talk to the ECU.
It was a time-consuming task to further take apart the parts car in search of the loom.
I was ultra careful to ensure that I was looking after plugs, not stretching wires, and doing things not to damage them.
