It was a combination of fatigue, lack of concentration, complacency and stupidity which caused a cracked sump and sent anxiety through the mind.
A typical Friday evening working on the car, and I was getting ready to pack up and head home.
I needed to do a small check on the underside of the engine, so I slid the jack underneath the front of the car and started jacking it up. Not concentrating closely enough on where I was located, the car lifted off the ground, but was very shortly back on the ground, having slipped off the jack.
It happened fast, it went bang, crash, and all of a sudden there was oil leaking profusely out of the cracked sump onto the shed floor. I scrambled for a container to catch as much as possible to keep the mess to a minimum.
