Competitors in this weekend’s Lightforce Rally SA, round 4 of the Kumho Tyre Australian Rally Championship (ARC) will be battling muddy conditions after recent heavy rains.
The Mt. Crawford area has had over one and half inches of rain in the past 24 hours, leaving roads on the rally route extremely wet and muddy.
Speaking to RallySport Magazine this morning, event Clerk of Course Ivar Stanelis, said that he was currently driving over the route to assess road conditions to determine if any stage cancellations would be necessary.
This morning’s planned Shakedown and VIP/Media Day was cancelled due to the weather.
No rain is forecast for the remainder of today and with the rally proper not due to get underway until 9am on Saturday, it is hoped that the roads may have dried out a little.
As you can see from the photos below, there could be a few additional water splashes that aren’t marked in the competitors’ pace notes!
