Last week’s Repco-sponsored Rally New Zealand was abuzz with the imminent announcement on Rally Australia's location which, RallySport Magazine understands, will be held in northern New South Wales, with a possible base at Tweed Heads.
While information on the event has been sparse over recent months, things have moved up a gear in recent days with the event advertising for a general manager and an operations manager, as well as calling for volunteer officials.
While leading World Rally Championship teams that RallySport Magazine spoke to in New Zealand knew nothing about the proposed 2009 event, it is believed that FIA representatives met with Rally Australia organisers in the week after the event.
