As the rally world continues to wait for the 2020 WRC calendar to be unveiled, Rally Australia remains confident of being included. The calendar's delay has been, in part, because of new events expected to be included in Japan and Africa. It is also expected that the all-tarmac Tour de Course will be axed from next year's calendar. "We've got no news year, however we are expecting the announcement of the full calendar in the coming two weeks," Rally Australia's CEO, Darryl Ferris, told RallySport Magazine.
"We've been having good dialogue with the promoter and are looking forward to the calendar announcement shortly."
New Zealand's hopes of a WRC return seem to have been dashed, despite rumours of Rally New Zealand's return to the championship earlier this year.
