Competitors from Australia and New Zealand will have a chance to test themselves against the best drivers on the planet when the FIA World Rally Championship returns for Kennards Hire Rally Australia in November. Organisers have announced the WRC will top a choice of four events, suitable for competitors at many levels, which will make up Rally Australia on the New South Wales Coffs Coast on 15-18 November. The rally program, developed from competitor feedback, offers a choice of three-day or one-day events, itineraries comprising from eight to 26 special stages and entry fees from $700. Regulations will admit homologated or non-homologated cars, including Classics, that meet FIA, CAMS or Motor Sport New Zealand technical regulations. “The Rally Australia organisers encourage as many teams as possible to enter in 2018,” Clerk of Course Wayne Kenny said. “We’ve made it as easy as possible for competitors from many levels to do this with a variety of itineraries, eligibility rules and entry fees. “Competing at a world championship alongside the sport’s best drivers is surely something on the bucket list of every rally crew. The variety of competitions within Rally Australia makes it possible to be part of the biggest and most professionally-run rally event in this part of the world.” The four competitions are – FIA World Rally Championship: 3 days, 26 stages incl 2 Destination NSW Super Special Stages (2 runs), 315 km competitive, FIA-homologated and CAMS/MSNZ-approved cars eligible, entry $2500 + GST. CAMS Australian Rally Championship: 3 days, 22 stages incl 2 Destination NSW Super Special Stages (1 run), no Destination NSW Super Special Stage, 310 km competitive, CAMS-approved cars, WRC entry available if eligible, control tyre, entry $2500 + GST. National: 3 days, 20 stages, 305 km competitive, CAMS-approved cars including Classics, entry $2500 + GST. East Coast Classic Rally Series & State Rally Championships: Saturday-only, 8 stages, no Destination NSW Super Special Stage, 120 km competitive, no pace notes, CAMS-approved cars, entry $700 + GST.
