Japan's Rally Hokkaido will go ahead this September, but with a very different look to that which had originally been planned.
Rally organisers have announced that they were withdrawing the rally from the Asia Pacific Rally Championship, although it will still be run as a 2-day international rally.
"Currently Japan is under tightened border control with no estimated lift date due to COVID-19 pandemic, and this makes it very difficult hold the event as a round of Asia Pacific Rally Championship," an event press releases stated.
"Thus, this year, we made difficult decision to temporary step off from the APRC series and operate the event as non-championship international rally event."
Rally Hokkaido's Saturday/Sunday format will take place on September 12 and 13, with a compact route, preceded by a two day reconnaissance.
The rally will, however, not allow spectators, and no rally show or start ceremony will be held.
