A press release from rally organisers stated:
* Regardless to the result of the Observation, there are no chances for an inclusion in the 2011 Calendar, which has already been approved, with reserves.
* Should the result of the Observation be positive, there is no clear indication on IF and WHEN an inclusion in the calendar will be possible and according to which criteria.
* We are aware that a new format for WRC events may appear in the near future, with different requirements in many items.
* Indonesia is now emerging from the world wide recession and links with national and global partners will be greater in future than in the current economic year.
While it was B.M.I.’s clear intention to run a Candidate Event as close as possible to the FIA WRC requirements and standards, in considering the points above, B.M.I. concluded that the huge investments necessary to achieve that level are hard to justify in the current economic situation.
It is with much regret that, in agreement with Indonesia’s National Sporting Authority, Ikatan Motor Indonesia, B.M.I. decided to ask the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) the cancellation of the Candidacy of Rally Indonesia 2010.
Rally Indonesia will take place as scheduled on September 25-26, 2010, as Round 6 of the 2010 FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship, in full compliance with the format and requirements of the championship.
