After four years as the prime movers behind Victoria's annual Australian Rally Championship event, Cuthbert and Hunt have jointly decided not to continue running the event for personal reasons.
Â
"It has been a wonderful, challenging and yet personally rewarding journey being involved in the NGK Rally of Melbourne," Justin Hunt says.
Â
"This has been a very difficult decision for both of us and probably not a decision we really wanted to make, but the impact on our personal lives and the lives of those around us has been significant, and Neil and I feel it is now time to move on."
Â
Cuthbert added: "We are keen to see the event continue, and would provide every encouragement and assistance to someone else to take the event over, and continue its place in the Australian Rally Championship.
Â
"We would like to thank so many people for annually making the NGK Rally of Melbourne possible - our friends and colleagues on the Organising Committee, the Sporting Council, and our team of volunteer officials who arrived at 4am year after year. Their tireless work and friendship has been the highlight of our journey."
Â
They were equally effusive in their praise for long-time sponsor NGK.
Â
"In NGK we have had the best possible naming rights sponsor and we would personally like to thank everyone at NGK, and in particular Peter Hein, for being such a friend to the event - we are very grateful for their support.
Â
"We'd also like to thank our associate sponsors and supporters for backing us from day one and for being part of such a wonderful event.
Â
"Finally, we both wish to thank our families who have played such a significant role in the running of the event year after year."
