Organisers of the International Rally of Queensland are calling for teams to urgently confirm their plans to compete, following the official close of entries last Friday.
With recent disruptions to Telstra BigPond internet services and the vagaries of postal delivery, the organisers are concerned some entries were not delivered in time and are still in transit.
“We know of a couple of intending entries that have not been received yet and there may be more, so we’re asking all competitors to contact us as soon as possible,” Clerk of Course Brian Everitt said.
IROQ on 17-19 June will host the following competitions -
• 2016 FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (Rd 2)
• 2016 Kumho Australian Rally Championship (Rd 3)
• 2016 MRF Tyres Queensland Rally Championship (Rd 3)
The Globe Roamer Service Park will again be at Imbil’s Mary Valley Showgrounds, but headquarters have moved north from Caloundra to the Waterfront Hotel at Diddillibah, near Maroochydore. All competitors will participate in the Ceremonial Start at Rotary Park, Cotton Tree (near Maroochydore) on Friday night 17 June.
Competitors will be welcomed to Imbil with a community-run free street party on Saturday from 4pm to 8pm, featuring food and drink, live music, markets and children’s entertainment.
