The final event of the 2010 Australian Rally Championship, Victorian Rally Championship and Excel Rally Series and Interstate Shootout is only 100 days away! Rally Victoria, a totally new event on the Rally Calendar this year will be a hotly contested finale to the three series.

With the ARC crews having their longest break between events in the championship, it gives the opportunity for crews to have the cars in absolute peak condition and ready to lay it all on the line in front of the fanatical Victorian spectators and their sponsors in the forests of west Gippsland.

Simon and Sue Evans wrapped up their 4th Australian Championship in Queensland on the weekend and sees Victoria as the opportunity to “…pull out all the stops and show everyone the pace we are really capable of now we don’t need to be worrying about securing series points.” Simon was enthused by the ARC heading back to his home state of Victoria, and in a new area after a three year break.

Event organisers confirmed the planning is well ahead with many aspects already finalised. Road Director Robin Smalley says, “The roads being used should excite crews as they perform their reconnaissance on the Thursday before the event start on Friday. Many of the roads have not been used in rallying before, while others haven’t seen the Australian Championship for three decades. The fantastic quality of the road surfaces, diverse character of the stages and the long competitive distance on Saturday is going to be a real test for the crews.”

Lardner Park, Warragul, will be the home base of the event with the Service Park, Media day, Rally HQ and awesome gravel Super Special Stage where the local and interstate crews will be able to show off their skills and exuberance. Spectators will be able to get up close to the action on the stage after having watched the teams’ service and repair their machines, and even the opportunity to strike up a conversation with the drivers and co drivers or grab an autograph or two in the friendliest of all the motorsports.

With all three series heading to contest Rally Victoria, it is fast looming as the event of 2010 not to be missed. Visit www.rallyvictoria.com.au.
