RallySport Magazine’s 2023 VIP Otago Rally Tour

International travel is back, and so too is RallySport Magazine’s tour to the Otago Rally in New Zealand’s south island.

 Join us in March/April 2023 for our 6-day/5-night VIP spectator tour and witness some of the event’s most famous stages, including Whare Flat, Shag Valley and Kuri Bush.

The Otago Rally is regarded as the Southern Hemisphere’s foremost classic rally, but also counts as Round 1 of the highly competitive New Zealand Rally Championship.

We’ve been attending the rally since 2002, so we know the area, and the stages, back to front. Join us on our rally tour, and see why many of our clients keep coming back year after year!

2023 Otago Rally Tour itinerary

Wednesday, March 29

  • Arrive at our tour hotel, Scenic Circle Southern Cross Hotel in Dunedin’s CBD
  • At 5.30 pm we will gather at the hotel for a tour welcome and briefing
  • Overnight: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin

Thursday, March 30

  • Breakfast at your hotel
  • Today we travel out to the picturesque Otago Peninsula to see the spectacular views of the Southern Ocean
  • We stop for lunch at the Portobello Hotel & Bistro (at your own cost) before travelling a short distance to the historic Larnach Castle.
  • Take in the beauty of the Larnach Castle and enjoy a special High Tea
  • Tonight we will attend the official Otago Rally with the stars dinner, listening to some of the rally’s leading competitors speak (drinks at own cost)
  • Overnight: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin

Friday, March 31

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Today you will have free time to take in the sights of Dunedin at your leisure. (We can give you some sightseeing ideas closer to the event)
  • From around 4.00pm you can make the short walk from the hotel to Dunedin’s Octagon, where the Rally Show and official ceremonial start will take place.
  • Grab yourself some dinner while in town.
  • Overnight: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin

Saturday, April 1

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Leg One: Travel by bus to the day’s stages to the north west of Dunedin. Final itinerary to be advised, although we expect to be able to visit 3 stages for the day. We will stop for lunch during the day (at your expense).
  • Overnight: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin

Sunday, April 2

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Leg Two: Travel by bus to the day’s stages, south of Dunedin. We expect to see 3 stages for the day. We will stop for lunch during the day (at your expense).
  • After the completion of the rally, enjoy our farewell tour dinner at the historic Speights Brewery, adjacent to our hotel. Our 3-course meal will have you finishing the tour on just the right note (drinks at own expense)
  • Overnight: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin

Monday, April 3

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Depart for Dunedin airport

  • Five nights accommodation with breakfast at Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Dunedin
  • Tours and transfers specified, by either scheduled or private coach with driver and RallySport Magazine representative
  • Official rally dinner function on Thursday evening (drinks at own expense)
  • VIP Rally Pass
  • Pre-event Rally Show and Ceremonial Start
  • Three-course farewell tour dinner on Sunday night at the famous Speights Brewery (drinks at own expense)
  • Entry to the historic Lanarch Castle, including a special High Tea experience
  • Sightseeing on the Otago Peninsula, with lunch at the Portobello Hotel (lunch at own expense)

Tour cost does not include:

Airfares, airport transfers, meals other than those specified above, personal expenses, tips and gratuities, hotel porterage, drinks at Thursday & Sunday functions.
