The pair were confident going into the event, after their win at the penultimate round in Hobart five weeks ago.
“We had a fantastic run,†Reeves said. “We won heat one by a minute and then suffered a Terra Trip failure on the liaison to the start of the second heat. We made the decision to do enough to ensure the event win, and not worry too much about Heat 2. At the end of the day, that’s exactly what happened and we held on to win the event comfortably.â€
The only real challenge to the pair was that of Craig Brooks and Daniel Wilson in the ex-Cody Crocker Impreza, however damaged suspension took Brooks out of contention on Special Stage 3 and then a steering problem on SS5 saw them DNF off the road.
“It was a great ride,†said an excited Spedding, “Sometimes interesting without a tripmeter on the very fast roads used. Nathan drove extremely well and didn’t take risks without the safety of knowing exactly when a call was coming up. It’s times like this that you really get to appreciate each other’s contribution to the team.â€
The pair will now focus on Akademos Rally, the closing round of the Victorian Championship in two weeks time to gain further pacenoting experience.
Highlights of Round 1 and 2 of the TRS will appear on One HD this Thursday night at 9:00pm and round 3 and 4 on October 22nd at 9:00pm.
The team would like to thank the entire Tasmanian rally community for their support over the season, as well as team supporters, RallySchool.com.au, Les Walkden Rallying, Evans Motorsport, Greg Lyle Abrasive Blasting, Innes Motors Subaru and Tasmanian businesses, Total Alarm Services and North West Mowers.
