Brendan Reeves is in a race against time to secure the necessary funding to contest November’s Kennards Hire Rally Australia. The talented Victorian has won just about every event he’s entered in the past two years, including rounds of the Australian and New Zealand Rally Championship. Most recently, Reeves won the Coromandel Rally in New Zealand for the second successive year, driving Force Motorsport’s Mazda 2 AP4. It’s in this car which Reeves hopes to enter Rally Australia, but significant sponsorship is required to make it a reality. “My own Subaru Impreza WRX is in need of a major prep before Rally Australia - somewhere in the range of $15-$20,000,” Reeves told RallySport Magazine. “When I did all the sums it works out to a similar figure to what it would cost to compete in the AP4 car. “And with the Mazda being a new car, it’s a lot more marketable.” Reeves is currently speaking to a number of potential sponsors in the hope of securing the necessary funding for the event, but is also open to offers from interested parties who may be keen to assist with his Rally Australia assault. It’s hoped that Australia’s most successful rally driver of recent times is on the start list come November’s WRC round. * Keen to help get the Mazda 2 AP4 to Rally Australia? Contact Brendan HERE.
