This event sees the running of the 52nd George Derrick Memorial Rally with over 80 teams ready to contest 100 competitive kilometres of stages. Starting in the main street of Avoca, 185 kilometres from Melbourne, at around 11.30am on Saturday the event will run though until 9.30pm on Saturday night.
The Robison Motorsport team are very excited with the potential of their newly built Subaru Impreza at this event following a second outright placing in the Bega Valley Rally. After the Bega event Jesse said, “The car felt really strong in all areas. It was excellent in the tighter rough stages where the new RS&SP suspension really came into its own."
The 2009 George Derrick Memorial Rally was not a good event for the team as they rolled their car on the final stage after duelling with eventual winner, Mark Fawcett, all day. The roll devastated Jesse and Adam who had been confident of their first podium result of the season following problems earlier in the year.
This year the team are looking to make the George Derrick Memorial Rally a positive one as they have developed this car during testing to be strong until the very end. “This year we are aiming to get to the end of each rally and let the stage times take care of themselves as the event unfolds,” said co-driver Adam Wright.
Since the Bega Valley Rally Jesse has been keenly awaiting the next contest with championship leader, Nathan Reeves, who is in stunning form presently. “Nathan is driving really well at the moment,” said Jesse. “He and Scott (Spedding) have their car working well also, so I think it will be good contest come Saturday.”
