Ex-Australian Enduro Team representative and current Australian Rally Championship contender, Ryan Smart, will ride an MPE-prepared Husaberg FX 450 in the 2010 Queensland Off-Road Series, and selected rounds of the Australian Off-Road Championship.

Smart is excited at being given the opportunity.

“Riding the new Husaberg FX450 with the new 70 degree engine angle, I felt immediately at home. The bike is very confidence-inspiring and I just want to go race it!” Smart said.

The Queensland Off-Road Series is not the only Championship Ryan is competing in this year. With his sister Rebecca Smart alongside, he is currently placed third outright in this year’s ARC in his turbo-charged Group N (Prototype) Toyota Corolla.

“The intensity of racing a dirt bike through the bush flat-out is very similar to driving a rally car on the edge. Competing in both Championships will help me immensely, not only with my physical fitness but also mental fitness, hand-eye co-ordination, concentration for long periods and the ability to focus in sometimes adverse situations, are skills required in all forms of motorsport,” Smart added.

Smart’s next event is the Scouts Rally SA in the Barossa Valley from June 25-27. The 2010 Husaberg QLD Off-Road Series begins in Kyogle on July 4 and continues with Round 2 in Gympie on July 18, the final round will be staged in Kingaroy on August 22.
