Young up and coming South Australian rally driver, Guy Tyler (below right), is getting ready to take on the best tarmac competition in the country in the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally (AHTR), to be held on May 27-29.

The AHTR rally will be the first event for Guy and navigator Brendan Warner for 2011, which not only hosts the first round of the South Australian Rally Championship, but is the first round of the Australian Modern and Classic Tarmac Rally Championships for 2011.

As a past student of the Southern Districts Car Club’s Junior Development Program (JDP), and ambassador for the program, Guy has been granted an opportunity to compete in the National section of the rally, thanks to a subsidised entry provided by the event organisers and the Southern Districts Car Club (SDCC) who run this very successful and well organised event.

Along with Guy, two other JDP graduates and aspiring young drivers, Daniel Day and James Rodda, have been given the same opportunity, and with all three entered in the same class, the competition promises to be very exiting.

“To be able to compare times and compete directly against national championship competitors is a huge opportunity for me and I hope that I can do the SDCC and the people who have helped me right from when I first participated in the JDP proud,” Tyler said.

He has been lucky enough to be able to upgrade to an ex-Ed Ordynski Lancer Evolution 3 for 2011, which will enable him and Brendan to take their rallying to a whole new level.

The team are looking forward to an action packed year in which they will be competing in the South Australian Rally Championship, the Rallyschool.com.au Australian Junior Challenge, as well as several other state and club events in SA.

The team would like to thank their supporters, Aluminium Dynamics, B&R Autogas and Exhaust, Walkers Creative Art and the Southern Districts Car Club.
