Retired WRC champion, Sebastien Loeb, made his long-promised test of a 2017 rally car, a Citroen C3 WRC, on August 8, at the wheel of the Citroen Racing’s test car. The FIA’s single supplier for the future R4 Kit rally car formula, Oreca, have announced that Stephane Sarrazin, Raphael Astier and Teemu Suninen are on call to test the prototype R4 Kit car. Each of these three drivers have ongoing connections with the French preparation company. Suninen competed in Oreca run Citroens, Fiestas and Skodas as part of a Toyota sponsored find-a-drive project. The first R4 Kit is to be fitted to a Toyota Etios chassis.
It all went the way of Marcos Ligato’s Chevrolet Agile MR Tango team on the final day of the Vuelta de la Manzana national Argentina championship rally. Ford Fiesta  MR drivers Miguel Baldoni went off the road losing 9 minutes, and Nicolas Diaz had gearbox failure.  Chevrolets finished 1-2-3 (Ligato, Cancio and Nalbandian).
Reports in the media that Elfyn Evans’ second places in Mexico and Finland have guaranteed him a place in the M-Sport team next year have been called “journalistic speculation” by M-Sport. M-Sport commented: “Malcolm (Wilson) has openly said that the ideal would be to keep the driver line-up the same.  We are in in discussions, but nothing is confirmed.”
