The Isle of Man scored a major coup by securing the first full test of the Citroen World Rally Championship team's new car this week.

The 2007 C4 WRC was put through its paces over three days, with Dani Sordo, at the wheel. He was due to be joined by the 2004 and 2005 champion Sebastian Loeb, but he was forced to withdraw after breaking his arm in a bicycle accident last month.

Joined by a 25-strong team, the Citroen star and co-driver Carlos del Barrio tested the C4 on closed roads around the Island from Tuesday until Thursday.

This year's Xsara, being run by the private Kronos team, was also involved in the test.

The visit was organised more than a month ago, but had to be kept under wraps so the C4 could be tested away from the world's media.

However, the sessions were filmed and footage will be released – and is likely to attract a worldwide audience.
