Shell Racing Solutions in Australia, through International Motorsport Solutions, have recently signed as key sponsor of Robison Motorsport’s 2007 rally program.
Robison Motorsport will be using the World Rally-specification Shell WR racing fuel to propel their newly-built Subaru WRX STi this season, allowing the car to be tuned for greater power and allowing for a greater state of tune.
After missing the first round of the Victorian Rally Championship, the Cerberus Stages, the brother and sister combination of Jesse and Sam Robison, debuted the new Subaru Impreza at Round 2, the East Gippsland Stages, with mixed results.
After opening up a three second lead on the first stage of the event, the team unfortunately blew a turbo half way through SS2 but still managed a respectable second place at stage end. Any chance of finishing in a top place was denied when a broken rear driveshaft on the following stage forced them to limp to service where the service crew set to and replaced the turbo and the driveshaft.
With too much time lost to challenge for an outright position, Jesse and Sam went out for the three night stages, looking to simply finish the event. After dropping to 15th after SS4, the team recovered to finally finish eighth outright, a respectable result considering the problems they encountered early on.
Robison Motorsport would like to thank Simon Ingram from International Motorsport Solutions for providing the team with the WRC-spec fuel as this has given the team more confidence in the car’s ability. Thanks also to Modena Engineering, Fabraications, Pyro-tection, Autobarn Narre Warren and Autobarn Traralgon.
Also deserving of praise are the service crew consisting of Craig Sutton, Dale Allen, Tom Robison and the ever-helpful Jason and Hayden from the David Nutter organization.
