Steve Shephard and Tom Smith took the Falken Tyres/Oztec Evo 6 Lancer to a decisive win at Philcomm Rally Benarkin on Saturday, leading from the front at round 3 of the 2007 City Subaru Queensland Rally Championship.

Championship rivals Glenn Brinkman/Steve Richardson (Evo 5) took a solid second place, with Matt van Tuinen/Dave McNab (WRX) in third.

The rally opened with flowing smooth roads in the Yarraman and Nanango forest areas during the daylight before heading back into the traditional testing roads of Benarkin for the night-time stages.

Clerk-of-Course Greg Bryant and his team delivered a challenging rally which ran on schedule with first car finishing back at Benarkin by 9.pm after 160 competitive kilometres.
