The 2017 Quit Forest Rally will feature a number of changes to the event program when it runs from April 21 to 23 next year.

“We have already started planning for 2017 and next Monday we will be doing the first survey work on the roads. The stages will be in the same area, but we will change the actual route on some of them,” Tapper said.

“Another change we would like to implement in 2017 is to have only half-day testing on Thursday morning, and then do recce on Thursday afternoon and finish it on Friday morning. This should save most competitors one night’s accommodation.

“The Friday morning Shakedown in Busselton will be moved to early Friday afternoon. With the new CAMS requirements for all passengers to wear the same apparel as the driver and a frontal head restraint, we can presume there will be a lot less passenger rides,” Tapper added.

In recent years the Quit Forest Rally has been the first round of the Australian Rally Championship, however, with the introduction of the new Victorian event in March, the WA qualifier will be round two in 2017.
