Should we crown an ARC champion in 2021?

It’s the burning question in Australian rallying at present. If and when the proposed December ARC round runs, should there be a champion crowned?

Before we get into the answer of this question, let’s try and set some precedent.

In 2020 the World Rally Championship was completed, and crowned, on seven events – exactly half of what was planned in the initial calendar.

If the December round of the ARC runs, like the WRC in 2020, exactly half of the rounds will have been completed.
