Norwegian John Haugland, who for 20 years (1971 to 1990) was famous for his international rallying successes for Skoda, had his 70th birthday last week (September 23). Â
During that time he won his class on 106 international rallies and competed in 32 WRC-rallies, and was an occasional works driver with British Leyland and Datsun. Â
Later he was an advisor in Petter Solberg’s early international days and later, for Andreas Mikkelsen. Â
Nowadays he is famous for his Winter Rally School which helped train three world champions, two European champions and more than 80 national champions.
