Petter Solberg has put to bed any thoughts that he may consider a return to top level rallying. The 2003 World Champion drove a Citroen DS3 World Rally Car on the Power Stage in Sardinia, with Pirelli test driver, Andreas Mikkelsen in the co-driver's seat. "Seriously, it was fantastic to be back in the car – really good to drive this car and, of course, I’m very, very happy to be able to do this and work with my friends from Pirelli on their home rally in Italy," Solberg said. However, he doesn't expect to be back behind the wheel any time soon.
"I am busy working with Oliver now. Maybe in some years I could consider to drive Dakar or something like that, but not for now, no," he added.
Although no times were given for Solberg's drive on the Power Stage, it is believed that his son, Oliver, was faster in his Skoda Fabia R5. The young Solberg is as a star of the future, and a potential World Rally Champion.
