Petter Solberg looks unlikely to contest the WRC opener, Rally Ireland, at the end of January, despite his best efforts to put together a program for 2009.
A press release added to Solberg's website over the weekend stated:
"We are still talking to both Subaru and Prodrive, but we have not concluded on anything yet. At the moment nothing is decided for 2009 and further. However, it is not likely that Petter will be in Ireland in the end of January 2009, due to tight schedules.
Petter will do his best to sort something out as soon as possible, in order to be back in the WRC.
More information will be published as soon as we have any news."
Rally fans worldwide will be hoping that both Solberg and Chris Atkinson, can secure a program for the 2009 World Rally Championship, but given the first event is just over a month away, their appearance in Ireland seems doubtful.
