It was clear after just 4.3 competitive kilometres of Friday night’s two super special stages around Busselton, that the Summit Innovations pairing of Will and co-driver Rian Calder, were going to be very hard to beat as they gained a substantial 24.2 second lead over the next 2wd Junior pairing of brothers, Ross and Scott Allan.
“Friday night showed we had pace on tarmac but not having done much testing on gravel in our newly built Nissan Silvia, we were unsure how we would shape up against the other Junior teams in the forest stages,” said Will.
However, the pairing continued to increase their lead over Saturday morning’s three forest stages and arrived back at the first service with a lead of over a minute.
“It’s clear that Will and Rian have the speed, all they need to do now is get it to the finish,” said Team Manager Hayden Taylor at the time; and that they did winning the rest of the days stages in the process to end day one with a massive 3 minute 7 second lead.
Day two was much the same for the Summit Innovations Rally Team, winning all ten stages to wrap up the round with a clean sweep, unchallenged on all 20 of the 2011 Quit Forest Rally’s stages.
Will Orders: “Now all we need to do, is repeat our performance from this rally in the Final of the RAJC at Rally Australia later in the year, and prove to potential Sponsors and Manufacturer Teams that we have the speed and the professionalism it takes to make it at the pinnacle of Australian rallying.”
