Tasmania’s round of the CAMS Australian Rally Championship has announced its naming rights sponsor ahead of its return to the series in July. Subaru Australia will become the naming rights of Rally Tasmania in its returning year. The Subaru Rally Tasmania is scheduled for the 27th to 29th of July and will run in the forests surrounding the city of Launceston. “It is great to announce that Subaru Australia have signed as the naming rights sponsor of Rally Tasmania,” Rally Tasmania’s clerk of course, Graham Malcolm, said. “We are very excited to partner with a brand that has such a strong heritage in rallying, but also a strong presence in the Tasmanian car market.” A major attraction for the event will be Subaru Australia’s own driver Molly Taylor, who will arrive at the event with the most recent experience of driving Tasmanian roads.

“Tasmania has been very lucky to host Molly Taylor and the Subaru Do Motorsport team for the past two years, as she has entered local rally events and conducted her testing and development within the state.” The partnership between Subaru Australia and Rally Tasmania builds on the already strong relationship between Subaru and Tasmanian motorsport. Subaru Do Motorsport is run by the Tasmanian based Les Walkden Rallying, whilst local Subaru dealer, Buckby Motors, has strong involvement in both the Australian Targa and Tasmanian Rally Championships. Subaru Australia were also the naming rights sponsor of Tasmania’s last gravel rally in the CAMS Australian Rally Championship, the Southern Safari, from 2002 to its final year in 2006.
