Subaru will run four factory Impreza World Rally Cars in two teams in the 2009 World Rally Championship, team principal, David Richards, has told the British magazine, Autosport.

"We'll run a new team next year," Richards said. "We will get the car right this season and next year we can hit the season hard right from the start with four cars sharing the same pars and systems.

"We would like a British driver, but I don't know who that could be," Richards said on Autosport’s website. "Beyond Britain, I don't know who's out there.

"The French guy, [Sebastien] Ogier looks good, but he's already under contract with Citroen. We also tried to get Jari-Matti Latvala, but he stayed with Ford.

"Anton Alen is good, but an unknown quantity in the WRC. We would like a British driver, but I don't know who that could be. We're not looking to make money with this team, just to cover the costs."

Subaru’s all-new Impreza WRC2008 will make its debut this weekend on the rough and tough Acropolis Rally. Subaru are nervously awaiting the debut, with the past few works Imprezas failing to live up to expectations.

Australian Chris Atkinson, currently third in this year’s World Rally Championship, will be hoping that the new car allows him to challenge for more podium finishes and, perhaps, his first WRC victory.
