Young star, Oliver Solberg, will be able to compete at the ERC Rally di Roma Capitale despite exceeding the number of test days allowed.
The son of 2003 World Rally Champion, Petter, tested for two days in Italy this week, which exceeded the sole test day allowed.
“The drivers explained that they were not aware of the regulation concerned,” read a stewards' statement.
“Even so, the co-driver has read the regulations, he did not read Art. 12.13 of the Supplementary Regulations carefully. The drivers admit that it was a mistake and they apologize for this lapse.”
Competitors are only allowed to test once in the host country during the two weeks prior to an ERC rally.
Solberg will get a suspended penalty, which will see him miss a future ERC rally if he infringes again.
