In August, Perth’s premier tarmac rallying event Quit Targa West will be transforming the Perth city centre into a car enthusiast’s paradise with a number of car related events, including three rally stages in the heart of Perth’s CBD.

Perth’s motorsport fans will be given plenty of opportunity to see the rally vehicles up close and in action with the Ceremonial Start in Forrest Place on Thursday August 13 from 11am to 2pm, Northbridge car display on Friday August 14 from 6pm to 9pm, and the City of Perth Super Stages including the Perth City Sprint and the Shannons Classics in the Park on Sunday 16th August.

On Sunday 16 August from 9am, spectators are invited to watch the 2015 Targa City Sprint where a large collection of vintage and classic vehicles will take on the 1.95km speed event course set-up on Riverside Drive, Governors Ave and Terrace Road.

“This will be the first running of the City Sprint by Targa West. Previously it was run by the Vintage Sports Car Club, and we appreciate their hard work in keeping this popular motorsport event running over the years,” said Quit Targa West Event Director Ross Tapper.

“Car fans will find the colourful mix of vehicles taking part in the City Sprint really interesting, there will be everything from pristine vintage vehicles to car club classics, to vehicles with all the modern luxuries.

“We have a field of 60 vehicles competing in the City Sprint and we are expecting another 300 vehicles to be on show at Shannons Classics in the Park held next door to the sprint circuit at Supreme Court Gardens.

“The cars racing with the iconic Perth city skyline in the background will certainly be a sight to see.”

After the Targa City Sprint, it will be the 2015 Quit Targa West competitors’ turn to take on the short but fast city circuit in their last opportunity to post times before the event’s overall placings are calculated.

Over 65 competitors have entered this year’s Quit Targa West event, including seven-time Bathurst winner Jim Richards. The 34 stages will take competitors to Wanneroo, Malaga, Whiteman Park, Kalamunda, Toodyay, Lower Chittering, Bullsbrook and Perth City where they will complete almost 250 competitive kilometres in four days.
