Only recently has the top-class of the World Rallycross Championship been cancelled, amid investigations into the cause of a recent fire at the last championship round.

RX1e cars, the sport’s top class, will therefore not compete at the weekend.

Due to that fact, many of the sport’s top drivers will now be in the RX2e field.

Top-class regulars Johan Kristofferson, Ole-Christian Veiby and Kevin and Timmy Hansen have all confirmed their entries into Taylor’s class for the weekend.

It will be a baptism of fire for the Aussie.

Kristofferson, for one, is a five-time World Rallycross Champion.

“They’re proper race cars and you’re on proper race tracks,” Taylor explained to us on our Special Stage Rally Podcast about the Rx2e cars.

“They do have jumps, but you don’t have the natural features like we do in Extreme E where we just drive wherever they put the track – whatever that terrain may be. There are certainly a lot of differences.

“I think it’s something that there’s a whole lot of people that are specialised in.”

If that was the case before these top-line drivers threw their hat in the ring, then Taylor’s task will only get harder.

It’s a challenge she will be more than up for.

Those wishing to watch Taylor in action at the event will be able to do so using their WRC+ subscription.
