Team Citroen Australia boss Ron Cremen believes Coates Rally Australia will be vital in the quest for the Australian Rally Championship title when the team heads to Coffs Harbour in September.
“Maximum championship points is what is required, even if that means giving up an outright win and settling for second,” team boss Ron Cremen said.
“Eli Evans and Glen Weston have shown their speed in the Citroen DS3 and that they have the pace to win the Australian component outright in the 2WD, but will remain focused on the big picture.”.
Rally Australia is an endurance round with lots of points on offer over the three days and staying out of trouble will be key to gaining the points required to move the team further ahead in the championship race.
Citroen will have a greater presence at Rally Australia when the official Citroen Total Abu Dhabi WRC team arrives for the event, and will give Eli and Glen an opportunity to meet the factory team and pick up vital information.
The Tankformers-Fibertech Citroen has surprised many with its speed, out performing most of the 4WD cars in the process to lead the championship, and with two rounds remaining Evans and Weston are keen to add a third Australian title to their impressive collection.
