After the strategy to find an experienced co-driver left Team Dilusi waiting anxiously on the sidelines for a portion of the 2011 Rally season, the upcoming Rally of Whangarei will see things begin to fall into place for the team with the procurement of one of Australia’s top international co-drivers, John Allen.
Arguably one of the best rounds in the calendar, the International Rally of Whangarei on July16 and 17 has an impressive seventy-six confirmed entries from nine different countries for the 301km event and also doubles as the fourth round of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship.
“We are very excited to be competing in Whangarei and would love to see our local supporters out there on the stages, and also those at home cheering us on to hopefully a top result.”
Leading up to the event, Team Dilusi have been flat out testing the car and promoting their sponsors with events such as the recent Toll United Hot Seat Ride Day, and the car display and rides at the opening of Keith Andrews Trucks in Auckland.
Driver Kingsley Thompson is eager to discredit the sceptics, and there is no better place to do it than at his home Rally in Northland, where he hopes to prove that the team has what it takes competing amongst the international field.
If you are unable to see the live action this weekend in Whangarei, make sure to visit www.teamdilusi.co.nz to see the unveiling of Team Dilusi’s brand new car graphics, courtesy of Kerikeri’s top sign writers Halvo Signs, and also follow live results of the Rally.
For those of you who will be in Whangarei, you will find Lucy on display in the Cameron Street Mall on Friday, July 15 from 3:30pm and be able to grab some stickers and a poster during the autograph signing which will take place just before the Rally’s Ceremonial Start at 4:30pm.
