This weekend, the 21st and 22nd of August, Team Dilusi will be in sunny Nelson for the fourth round of the New Zealand Rally Championship.

The Rally Car Show and Drivers Signing Session, between 6.30pm and 8.00pm, on Friday evening at the World of Wearable Arts and Classic Car Museum, commences the event.

The following morning competitors head out to tackle six Stages on the Nelson Forests roads. The three morning Stages are repeated in the afternoon so this is a good chance for the Team to refine their Pace Notes and to ultimately find more speed.

After recent testing on Northlands back roads, the developments made to the car are performing well and driver Kingsley Thompson is looking forward to the Rally. “We will have a new co driver for this round and are confident it will add momentum to the progression of the team, car and our stage times.”

Sunday’s action will include another six stages, all three stages again repeated. The main attraction for spectators will be the specially built 1.5km Super Special Stage being held at Richmond Park Showgrounds, spectators will now be able to get Super close to both the action in the stages and the drivers in the service park.

Lucy, the teams’ Mitsubishi Evo X, will also be running special high octane fuel for the rally, which will add a substantial power advantage. Team manager Grant Clearwater is impressed with the new fuel and the performance of the car. “Now it is up to Kingsley to drive Lucy with the same commitment that he showed during testing,” says Grant.
