The last hurrah for these WRC cars on gravel

It’s hard to believe that this weekend’s Rally Finland is the final time we’ll see this specification car on gravel in the World Rally Championship, and in doing so, turning one of the final pages of a golden era in the sport.

This year's Rally Finland will give crews a different challenge than they’re used to in the country, but it will be a fitting send off to these gravel specification cars.

The 2017-spec World Rally Cars made their gravel debut at Rally Mexico in 2017, when Kris Meeke famously drove through a stage-side car park in the final 500 metres of the stage in error, putting his rally win in jeopardy.

He got through relatively unscathed, but there’s arguably been no better climax to a rally in these cars that we’ve seen since.
