Perth entrepreneur Kym Illman has decided to enter two vehicles, worth around half a million dollars, in this year’s Targa West to be held from September 4 – 7.

Illman, who owns the Perth-based telephone audio production company Messages On Hold,  will be driving his 2008 Porsche 911 turbo in the Challenge category while 23 year old Perth race car ace, Peter Major, will pilot MOH Racing’s latest acquisition, a 2006 Mitsubishi EVO 9 in the Competition category.

MOH Racing was established recently to allow Illman to pursue his new-found love of motorsport.

“With the backing of sponsors like Gold Coast builder Hipwood Constructions, Dreamholidayhomes.com.au and Illman’s own company Messages On Hold, MOH Racing  will certainly be competitive,” claims Illman.

In 2005 Illman won the Targa West Challenge category in a 2004 Porsche 911 and he has competed in a number of other tarmac rallies around Australia.

MOH Racing recently purchased an EVO 9 from Victorian Matthew Heskins. Whilst Peter Major will drive this car in Targa West this year, Illman will be at the wheel for next year’s Targa Tasmania and Targa NZ.

The vehicle will also be entered in the Bathurst 12 Hour in February 2009.

“I have invited Peter Major and two other Perth drivers to drive the car in this event and given this EVO is of the same pedigree as last year’s winner and runner up, I think we have a real chance of a first up victory,” Illman said.
